swipeout

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 27 June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how swipeout ("swipeout", "we", "us") collects, uses, discloses, and protects your personal information when you use the swipeout mobile app, join our waitlist, or visit getswipeout.app (together, the "Services"). swipeout is operated from Australia, and we handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

This is a single, canonical policy that covers both our website and our app. Where a section applies only to one, we say so.

1. Information we collect

The marketing website (getswipeout.app) uses no tracking or advertising cookies. For aggregate visitor counts it uses Vercel Web Analytics — a privacy-friendly, cookieless service that does not set cookies, store your IP address, or track you across sites. Other than that, it collects only the email you choose to submit to the waitlist.

2. Third parties that process data for us

We use a small number of trusted service providers ("processors") to run the Services. They process data only on our instructions:

3. How we use your information

4. Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We disclose it only to the processors listed above, to other members of a group you join (e.g. your shared availability and swipes within that group), where required by law, or in connection with a business transfer.

5. Overseas storage and transfers

Some of our processors store and process data on servers outside Australia, including in the United States (e.g. Supabase, PostHog, Vercel). Where personal information is transferred overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the APPs.

6. Data retention

We keep waitlist emails until launch and for a reasonable period afterwards, or until you ask us to delete them. Account and app data is kept while your account is active. When you delete your account (see your self-serve controls below), your account and associated data are erased immediately.

7. Your rights & self-serve controls

In the app, you can exercise your main privacy rights yourself, at any time, from Account settings:

Under the APPs you may also request access to, or correction of, your personal information. To exercise any right, or to unsubscribe from the waitlist, email admin@getswipeout.app. You may also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if you believe we have mishandled your information.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures — including encryption in transit, access controls, and row-level security on our database — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and review our practices regularly.

9. Children & younger users

swipeout is intended for users aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if you believe a child under 13 has given us their information, contact us and we will delete it. Where local law sets a higher age of digital consent, users below that age should have a parent or guardian's permission. For users under 18, we apply age-appropriate restrictions — for example, hiding the Nightlife category.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify you.
